Cops foil drug store robbery in Balintawak

Police foiled a drug store robbery in Balintawak, Quezon City after killing two gunmen before dawn Friday.

Superintendent Marcelino Pedroso, chief of the Quezon City police’s intelligence division, identified one of the two slain suspects as Robert Sapillan.

Pedroso said patrolling policemen spotted the two suspects pointing their guns — .38 revolver pistols — at a drug store’s security guard in Balintawak.

He said the policemen immediately rushed to help the security guard, who was trying to fight off the two gunmen.

Upon seeing the policemen, the suspects boarded a motorcycle and sped through Fema Road while shooting at the policemen.

The two died during the shootout.

Pedroso said the Quezon City police intensified patrol operations around the Fema Road area, which has been used by motorcycle-riding robbers as an escape route.
